Striped Scarf and Matching Hand Warmers

Scarf 

I worked this in rows all from the front. Technically this scarf is self-fringing, but I added extra fringe. Join a separate stand of yarn at the beginning of each row, leaving a long tail. Fasten off at the end of each row leaving a long tail. I used left over yarn from other projects. It takes about a half skein of each color.

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in 4 colors.
H hook

With color A, chain the desired length. Fasten off.
Row 1:  Join color A. dc in each ch. Fasten off.
Row 2: Join color B.  hdc in each st. Fasten off.

Continue each row in the same manner alternating colors and stitches as follows:
Row 3: Color C, dc
Row 4: Color B , dc
Row 5: Color D, sc
Row 6: Color A, hdc
Row 7: Color C, hdc
Row 8: Color  D, dc
Row 9: Color B, sc
Row 10: Color  D, hdc
Row 11: Color C, sc
Row 12: Color B, dc
Row 13: Color A, hdc

Add additional fringe if desired. Trim fringe to desired length.

Hand Warmers

These are worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. Fsc stands for foundation single crochet, which I find easier than creating a chain then single crocheting the first row.  There is great tutorial here.  If 24 stitches makes a ring too small or big for your hand, add or subtract stitches accordingly.  This is worked in front loops only, which provides some stretch.

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in color of choice
H Hook

Row 1: fsc 24. sl st in first st to form a ring.
Row 2: Working in front loops only, dc in each st around.
Row 3-4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: Dc in both loops of 1st st. Chain 5. Skip next 5 stitches. Dc in 7th st. This creates the thumb hole. Dc in front loops of each remaining st.
Row 6: Dc in front loops around.
Row 7 – 12: Repeat row 6.
Row 13: Sc in both loops around.  Fasten off. Weave in ends.
