Crocheted Bugs and their Fruit Homes
I just wanted to share the crocheted gifts I made this Christmas. I usually only post original patterns or patterns available for free. These are from a book so I can’t share the pattern, but they are so cute I couldn’t not post them here.
I made two sets of these little critters for my two nieces who are 3 and 5. Each bug lives in a little fruit shaped container.
There is an apple with a worm.
And a funny little butterfly in a strawberry.
The pattern is from Amigurumi 2! by Ana Paula Rimoli if you need to go out and get yourself a copy. Ana Paula also has tons of cute patterns on her blog. Her books are what started me on amigurumi in the first place. I own all 3 toy books and pick up her lasted one with crocheted bags and purses every time I’m in Barnes & Noble, but I’ve managed to resist purchasing it thus far.
My only issue with the pattern is that you need to be very consistent with your gauge or the tops won’t line up perfectly with the bottoms, which you can tell mine don’t. They are close enough for kids’ toys, but the perfectionist in me is bothered. I’ll get over it. Other than that, I am quite pleased. I think they are adorable and the girls seemed to enjoy them. That’s all you can ask for really.
