Grilled Pear and Cheddar Sandwich
Continuing my goal of feeding myself despite my poor cooking skills, I’d like share my most recent creation. Grilled Pear and Cheddar Sandwich, with bacon. Because, like blue cheese, everything is better with bacon. Now when I told my mom about this sandwich she looked at me like my head was a fire. “Pears? on a sandwich? the fruit?” Yes, pears the fruit, on a sandwich. Delicious. I actually got the idea from a recipe I saw with apples, but I didn’t have apples and figured pears are close enough. And I was right. I’ll be making this again, especially since my pears are still too hard to just eat. Firm fruit I think actually helps the sandwich.
- 2 slices wheat bread
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 pear, cut into thin slices
- 2 strips bacon
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- Assemble sandwich with pears, cheese and bacon between bread.
- Melt butter in frying pan on medium heat.
- Fry sandwich until golden brown, flip and brown other side.
- Enjoy.
- I've tried the same sandwich with apples instead of pears. Also delicious!
- If you are having trouble getting the cheese to melt before the sandwich gets too done, you can microwave the cheese on one slice of bread for a few seconds, then assemble the sandwich and fry it up.
